Motorcycles raced here first in 1953, with Formula 1 following a decade later. Imola is an integral part of F1 lore for a number of reasons. First, the wide variety of racing car manufacturers located nearby includes Minardi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Dallara. Second, the tragic events that unfolded during the 1994 Grand Prix weekend. Michael Schumacher is the most successful F1 driver around Imola with 7 wins, followed by Messrs Prost and Senna on 3 a piece. Brits Mansell and Hill both have a pair of Grand Prix wins at Imola.
